Bigfoot has gone by a lot of names: Sasquatch, Skunk Ape, Momo the Monster... and those are just in the USA. Then there's the Orang-Pendek in Sumatra (shorter, but the same basic story), the Yowie in Australia, the Almas in Mongolia... and on and on. Can this mean that there's some kind of hidden species of hairy man-like creatures living all over the earth (some say he's an evolutionary dropout -- "gigantopithecus" -- whose famliy began about 8 million years ago and somehow missed out on becoming Homo Erectus), a species that has somehow been able to escape being captured or found by any scientific expedition, even after all these years? A lot of people have tried to debunk the existence of the creature -- China just "officially" declared that the Yeti (aka the Abominable Snowman) does not exist -- but how do you PROVE that something DOESN'T exist? And why would they go so far out of their way to debunk something that's just a fairy tale -- why not just ignore it? Are they trying to cover something up? (Okay, maybe I'm a LITTLE paranoid, but still... ) The most famous "proof" of Bigfoot's existence was the so-called "Patterson footage", a film taken in California in 1967. But that's now been debunked. That's not the only proof, however; there's other film, other photos, and plenty of molds taken from footprints that don't correspond to any known animal (including humans). And there's SO many reported sightings -- of individual Bigfoots, of Bigfoot families -- even of long-term abductions (read the account of Albert Ostman's abduction in 1924, while he was prospecting in British Columbia -- WEIRD). Are all these people crazy, or lying? Certainly SOME of them are, but when you get to 1,400 sightings in America alone, I think it's time to open your mind a little to the possibilities.
